much like Ernest Hemingway, david has found adventure and excitement in every aspect of his life. he was a deep sea diver, (the most dangerous job on the planet) for 15 years. he has been a professional stunt man since 1981, and he has been an award winning landscape designer for over 25 years. whether he is designing someone's outdoor living space or designing an incredible recipie in the kitchen, he adds flair and originality.

David's World famous Chili

This is a sweet chili guaranteed not to put hair on your chest....I've found that you have to be careful with that kind of food because if you chew it on the wrong side of your mouth, you could end up with hair on your back.

1 lb. ground turkey
1 lb. ground pork
1 lb. ground beef
2 yellow onions, chopped
4 teaspoons dried oregano
4 teaspoons ground cumin
¼ cup chili powder
8 bay leaves
3 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons bacon bits
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 14 oz.cans of diced tomatoes
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup yellow mustard
4 cups chicken broth
1 32 oz can pureed tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can red beans

I've always thought of chili as one of those kinds of foods you make when you have lots of folks coming over, whether it's in a bowl or over nachos I've always liked it topped with some sour cream and chopped onions, last time we made this we had about 20 people over and we had plenty of food. (You're going to need a pretty large pot for this)

Start by browning each of the meats (pork, turkey and beef) pour off the grease then put each into the pot. Chop the onions, brown them and add them to the meat, after that, just start adding the rest of the ingredients in the pot, bring to a boil then reduce the heat to a simmer, stir occasionally for about 45 min.

Top with sour cream, fresh cilantro and a few chopped red onions. (remember to take out the bay leaves)

As with any recipe, have fun with it....think of it as a guide not a blueprint.
